Best GEO Software 2026: Tested and Ranked

We tested five generative engine optimisation platforms using 25 standardised brand prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. We scored each tool on tracking coverage, citation visibility, competitor tracking, reporting quality, pricing transparency, and agency suitability.

The GEO software category is crowded and moving fast. A tool that was the obvious choice twelve months ago may have been lapped by a better-funded competitor. Pricing changes monthly. Feature parity is converging rapidly. Getting the choice wrong costs money and wastes two to three months of tracking data you cannot get back.

For this guide, we ran 25 prompts per platform covering branded, category, and buying intent queries across four AI engines. We paid for access where needed, used trial accounts where available, and cross-referenced our findings against G2 reviews, independent audits, and direct vendor data.

Our verdict is below. Individual reviews with full methodology, scoring breakdowns, and use-case guidance follow.

1. Peec AI — Best for SMB and mid-market teams

Pricing: From $95/month (brands) | $245/month (agencies) | Unlimited seats on all plans
AI platforms tracked: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews (3 included; extras from $20-30/month each)
Best for: Growth-stage and mid-market B2B teams that need fast setup, clear reporting, and competitive tracking without enterprise pricing

Peec AI is the strongest all-round choice for teams with budgets under $300/month. Founded in Berlin in early 2025, it reached a $100M+ valuation inside twelve months. The UI scraping methodology captures what real users see rather than what API sampling returns, which matters for data accuracy.

Setup is fast. The interface is clean. Unlimited seats means you can include the whole team without the per-user cost penalties that hit harder on Semrush and Profound. The Actions feature (currently in beta) turns visibility data into a prioritised content to-do list.

The limitation to watch: three AI models are included per plan. Tracking Claude, Gemini, Grok, or other platforms beyond the base three costs an additional $20-30/month each. Full Peec AI review

2. Scrunch AI — Best for multi-engine coverage

Pricing: From $250/month (Core, brands) | $500/month (Agency Core)
AI platforms tracked: 9 LLMs including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Copilot, Meta AI, Claude, and Grok
Best for: Teams that need to track across all major AI platforms, including those where Peec and Profound have gaps

Scrunch’s main differentiator is breadth. Nine LLMs on the Core plan, with no engine limits at enterprise pricing. If your buyers use Claude, Meta AI, or Grok alongside the main four, Scrunch is the only platform in this review that covers all of them at mid-market pricing.

The GA4 integration is the strongest in the category. SOC 2 Type II compliance makes it viable for enterprise procurement. Full Scrunch AI review

3. Profound — Best for enterprise intelligence

Pricing: $99/month (Starter, ChatGPT only) | $399/month (Growth, 3 engines) | Enterprise custom
Best for: Large organisations with compliance requirements, dedicated marketing teams, and significant AI visibility budgets

Profound has the deepest competitive intelligence in the category. The Conversation Explorer taps 400M+ real user prompts. Customers include Ramp, Figma, DocuSign, MongoDB, and Zapier. G2 rates it 4.6/5 across 322 reviews as of June 2026.

The Starter plan at $99/month is effectively a demo. Real functionality starts at $399/month with the Growth plan. Full Profound review

4. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit — Best for existing Semrush users

Pricing: $99/month per domain (standalone) | From $199/month with Semrush One
Best for: Teams already using Semrush for SEO who want AI visibility inside the same dashboard

Semrush launched its AI Visibility Toolkit in 2025 and improved it substantially through early 2026. The 239M+ prompt database is credible and the 7-day free trial is useful at a price point where most competitors offer no trial. The per-domain and per-user pricing scales fast for teams managing multiple properties. Full Semrush review

5. Ahrefs Brand Radar — Best for large Ahrefs customers

Pricing: From $828/month (Lite + 6-platform bundle) | From $1,148/month on higher Ahrefs plans
Best for: Enterprise teams already deeply invested in Ahrefs with large budgets and a Google-AI-first strategy

Ahrefs Brand Radar has the largest prompt database in the category at 239M+ prompts. If you are an enterprise Ahrefs customer and AI visibility is one component of a broader investment, the case is clear. At $828/month minimum with documented accuracy concerns and no Claude or Grok tracking, it is hard to recommend as a standalone purchase. Full Ahrefs Brand Radar review

Frequently asked questions about GEO software

What is GEO software used for?

GEO software tracks your brand’s visibility in AI-generated answers from platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. It measures citation rate, share of voice, citation source, and sentiment. Marketing teams use it to understand how AI represents their brand, identify gaps where competitors are being recommended instead, and track whether content changes improve citation rates over time.

How is GEO software different from SEO tools?

SEO tools track organic search rankings in Google and Bing. GEO software tracks brand presence in AI-generated answers. The two datasets measure different things and often diverge. A page can rank number one in Google and receive zero AI citations. Some platforms like Semrush and Ahrefs have added AI visibility modules to their existing SEO tools. Dedicated GEO platforms like Peec AI, Profound, and Scrunch AI were built for AI visibility tracking from the start.

Which AI platforms should a GEO tool track?

At minimum, a GEO tool should track ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. These three account for the majority of AI-assisted research in B2B buying contexts as of June 2026. Gemini is the next most important for brands with international reach. Claude, Copilot, Grok, and Meta AI are relevant for specific audience segments. Before choosing a tool, check which engines it tracks and how — API sampling vs UI scraping vs real-user prompts produce materially different data.
