Justifiable for existing Ahrefs enterprise customers who want AI visibility inside the platform they already use. Hard to recommend as a standalone purchase given accuracy concerns and narrower engine coverage than cheaper alternatives.

What Ahrefs Brand Radar is
Ahrefs Brand Radar is an AI visibility add-on for the Ahrefs SEO platform. It monitors brand mentions across Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Copilot using a database of 239M+ prompts. It integrates natively inside the Ahrefs interface alongside keyword research, backlink analysis, rank tracking, and technical audit tools.
Brand Radar’s proposition is consolidation: for teams that already use Ahrefs heavily, adding AI visibility inside the existing platform reduces context-switching. The feature also includes SERP AI Overview detection inside Rank Tracker, which flags keywords that trigger AI Overviews — this is included in base Ahrefs plans without requiring Brand Radar.
The pricing reality
Ahrefs Brand Radar is an add-on, not a standalone product. You pay for the base Ahrefs subscription first, then add Brand Radar AI platforms on top. The base Ahrefs Lite plan costs $129/month. Each AI platform index costs $199/month individually, or $699/month for all six bundled. Minimum realistic cost to track all six AI platforms: $828/month.
The 2,500 prompt check default compounds the cost issue. One check equals one prompt multiplied by one LLM multiplied by one location. Track 10 prompts across 6 engines in 3 geographies daily and you exceed the cap in under two weeks. The add-on for 2,500 more checks costs $50/month.

Documented accuracy concerns
Multiple independent audits have flagged accuracy issues with Brand Radar’s AI tracking methodology. The most cited finding: one independent test recorded Brand Radar reporting 3 ChatGPT brand mentions where direct testing found 123 actual mentions — a 97.5% discrepancy.
The root cause is methodology. Brand Radar uses a keyword-database approach, cross-referencing brand terms against a database of queries with AI-generated results. This differs from UI scraping (Peec AI, Scrunch), which simulates what real users see, and from real user prompt data (Profound’s Conversation Explorer). The keyword-database approach can miss brand mentions in responses to queries the database has not indexed.
Ahrefs has not published a public response to these accuracy findings as of June 2026. Teams using Brand Radar for strategic decisions should treat the mention counts as directional rather than absolute.
VERDICT
Our verdict
Ahrefs Brand Radar is the right choice for one specific buyer: an enterprise team already paying for Ahrefs Standard or Advanced, whose AI visibility strategy is primarily about Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and who wants to consolidate vendor spend rather than add a new platform.
For any other buyer, the cost-to-value ratio does not hold. At $828/month minimum, with documented accuracy concerns, no sentiment analysis, no Claude or Grok tracking, and a prompt check allowance that depletes quickly, Brand Radar is outperformed on most dimensions by Peec AI and Scrunch AI at a fraction of the price.
Teams evaluating Ahrefs for SEO should note that SERP AI Overview detection in Rank Tracker is included in base plans without Brand Radar — that is the Ahrefs AI feature most useful for most teams and costs nothing extra.
